It was used abused and still produce good enough cuts in different materials.

It was a hit or miss and Cameo was sometimes perfectly ok and connected without issues but sometimes I had to turn it onoff hundreds of times or connectdisconnect usb to be able to see it in studio.

Silhouette Cameo Software Connection Issues

All the guides on silhouette site tell you to use original usb cable and try to resolve software connection issues.

And they point out that third party usb cables are not guaranteed to work.

And I tested several usb cables before and they havent resolved connection problem.

So I kept original cable and kept turning the Cameo on and off or connecting and disconnecting usb cable, as I believed it was all softwaredriverfirmware related on Cameo side and cant be resolved.

Until yesterday when Cameo just stopped detecting at all by all my computers including mac and pc.

Just no device connected on mac and unknown device on pc every time.

After another round of onoffdisconnectconnect routine, as a last try, I swapped usb cable just to be sure and it was instantly connected and synced with studio.

So maybe there are some softwarefirmware issues with usb connectivity on Cameo side, but here the cable was a culprit and I thing it was slowly dying and finally stopped working.

If you face issues with connection like I did - get a new cable from some brand for several dollars and try it with your Cameo.

Now I tried investigating the connectivity with usb and found that usb socket on Cameo itself is a bit wobbly.

Maybe it also needs replacement as such sockets are rated for several hundreds of insertions.

And with Cameo connectdisconnect routine I surpassed these numbers long time ago.

Its interesting that as the Cameo 3 was released, I started having more and more issues like this with all the software updates.
